Applications will be accepted through December. However, if you wait until then, most if not all of the interview spots will be filled.

Which tracks can I apply for at Olive View?

Three tracks are available in Internal Medicine at Olive View:

  • Categorical Internal Medicine
  • Preliminary Internal Medicine
  • Primary Care (joint track with UCLA Westwood)

Can I apply for both the Olive View categorical program and UCLA primary care track?

Yes! Keep in mind you will need to submit your ERAS application to both Olive View and UCLA.  You will also need to rank our programs separately.

Is the Supplemental ERAS Application required?

No. The Supplemental ERAS application is optional.

How will the Supplemental ERAS Application be used?

We will collect and review information from the three sections of the supplemental application: past experiences, geographic preferences, and program signals.  If available, the information may be used in the pre-interview screening process as part of our holistic review process to offer interviews to candidates who fit our programs’ setting and mission.  After receiving an invitation for interview, your geographic preferences and program signals will not be used as part of the ranking process.

Is there a USMLE Step 1 score requirement?

No. We do not require a minimum USMLE score for interviews or ranking. However, we do expect that interviewed applicants have passed USMLE Step 1.

Is there a USMLE Step 2 CK requirement?

No. We do not require the USMLE Step 2 CK score or a minimum score for interviews or ranking. However, we do expect that interviewed applicants have passed USMLE Step 2 CK before starting residency.

Is there a USMLE Step 2 CS requirement?

If I am an osteopathic medicine candidate, is there a USMLE requirement?

No, graduates of osteopathic medical schools are not required to take the USMLE.  However, it is highly recommended. If the USMLE score is not available, we will use your COMLEX scores.

If I am an international medical graduate (IMG), can I still apply?

Yes, we do accept IMG’s.

If I am an international medical graduate (IMG), what are the requirements?

The application process for IMG’s changed in January 2020 in California.

You are still required to have a valid, current certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

You are no longer required to have the Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter (PTAL) from the California Medical Board.

The postgraduate training license (PTL) is required of trainees within 180 days of starting residency. This requires that the Medical Board recognizes your medical school as meeting the requirements equivalent to U.S./Canadian medical school. Qualifying medical schools include those listed by the California Medical Board or on the World Directory of Medical Schools (joint directory of the World Federation for Medical Education and Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research). Therefore, we will only accept graduates of these recognized medical schools.
