If I am an international medical graduate (IMG), can I still apply?

Yes, we do accept IMG’s!

If I am an international medical graduate (IMG), what are the requirements?

The application process for IMG’s changed in January 2020 in California.

You are still required to have a valid, current certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

You are no longer required to have the Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter (PTAL) from the California Medical Board.

The postgraduate training license (PTL) is required of trainees within 180 days of starting residency. This requires that the Medical Board recognize your medical school as meeting the requirements equivalent to U.S./Canadian medical school. Qualifying medical schools include those listed by the California Medical Board or on the World Directory of Medical Schools (joint directory of the World Federation for Medical Education and Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research). Therefore, we will only accept graduates of these recognized medical schools.
