Interns and faculty at Spring Retreat 2019 in Palm Springs, CA.

Medical Training at County

We are based at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, an academic county hospital serving northern Los Angeles County.  Residents train in Internal Medicine through the three-year categorical or one-year preliminary track.  Our goal is to build a strong clinical foundation with a focus on the undeserved patient population.

Mission Statement: We train compassionate, clinically outstanding physicians while providing high quality care to the underserved.

UCLA and County Partnership

Our program is one of two UCLA-sponsored programs in Internal Medicine. As such, we share a strong relationship with the UCLA Internal Medicine program based at Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Olive View is well-known as one of the best teaching sites among UCLA medical students (don’t take our word for it, ask them). We recruit residents who are enthusiastic about learning and teaching while caring for county patients.

Dedication to the Underserved

We are devoted to the medical needs of our underserved community—from caring for patients during their most acute illnesses in the hospital to promoting health through longitudinal care in clinic. We are a community that reflects the community we serve.

Meeting the Challenges of Contemporary Medical Practice

No matter your future career path, you will gain the skills necessary to be a highly competent clinician.  While we focus on underserved care, our program also ensures a broad clinical and educational experience. Our graduates are ready to practice in any health care system.
