Salary

Effective July 1, 2015 housestaff stipends are:

  • PGY-1: $52,941 annual ($4,412/month)
  • PGY-2: $54,696 annual ($4,558/month)
  • PGY-3: $56,845 annual ($4,737/month)

Medical, Dental, Vision

Residents enjoy an excellent comprehensive UCLA Health medical plan with no deductibles that is provided at no charge to housestaff, their spouses or same-sex domestic partners, and eligible dependents. In addition, a group long-term disability plan plus life insurance is offered to all house staff at no charge. Dental and vision plans through Delta Dental and Vision Service Plan (VSP) are also provided. To learn more, visit the benefits website.

Vacation

Residents enjoy four weeks of paid vacation each year.

Education

The residency program provides funds to go to national conferences for research and presentations. Also, residents receive home and mobile access to UCLA’s library resources, UpToDate, and board review study materials (MKSAP, Board Basics). At the end of residency, residents are also sent to board review classes.

Health Sciences Library

The Joseph K. Indenbaum, M.D. Health Sciences Library at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center contains hundreds of online journals and textbooks. The hospital subscribes to UpToDate, Visual Dx and many other databases that are easily accessible at workstations on-campus. Additionally, the UCLA Biomedical Library is available for our interns and residents from home.

Meals

Every intern/resident receives a weekly meal allowance to use for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which is available 365 days a year.

Call Rooms

Private rooms are provided when taking overnight call.

Other

Life insurance is provided to all housestaff. Also, residents are eligible to entertainment, child care, housing, and other benefits provided by UCLA.
